The use of microalgae as source of vegetable protein in the first stages of shrimp is a key to reach good quality PL. It can be perfectly combined with the other types of diets. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that microalgae play an important role in the maintenance of quality water.

Live feed provided at an early larval stage is a necessity, as larvae’s digestive system is still in development. Artificial diets are the best solution to go to a complete regime based on quality nutritional formulations and thus, progressively switch from live feeds. Thanks to some recent advances in shrimp feeding regimes, hatcheries can grow their shrimp on larval diets and achieve great results.

The nursery stage is an important moment in shrimps’ life as they are being prepared to transit from hatchery to the fattening phase. Furthermore, at this moment, other factors come into play such as quarantine, biosecurity control or acclimation… Therefore the nursery diets need to demonstrate high water stability and a great protein digestibility. By providing quality nutrition in that phase, our customers achieve a cost-efficient production of strong post-larvae in a shorter period of time and without any negative impact on the water quality.

Aquatic organisms need optimal water conditions as they minimize the risk of deficiencies and ensure the healthy growth of shrimp increasing their survival rate. The bacterial control is therefore a key to avoid some pathogens and toxic agents, which can harm the production performance.
