BernAqua cares about the environment

We call it invention and innovation because of the durability of plastic but also it is very flexible and cheap to produce.
Did we mention durable?
That is what makes plastic such a threat to the environment and all the animals in it, including humans.
According to a study done in 2018 the average person eats over 70,000 pieces of microplastic a  year.
Most adult bodies can process the amount of Bisphenol A (a plastic chemical).
However children and fetuses are extremely susceptible to negative effects from BPA exposure.

A lot of plastic waste ends up in our rivers and oceans but it can be found everywhere, from landfills to even in the remote areas.
Plastic does not compose in the water and it will eventually break down into little pieces of itself.
For the animals plastic is turning the ocean into a minefield. From getting stuck in the nets to eating plastic bags that they often mistaken as food.
Wildlife is dying from material we made. We depend on it and now we’re drowning in it.

BernAqua will stop using plastic bags inside the 4kg and 5kg buckets of feed as from beginning 2019.
This way BernAqua possibly will help to prevent more than 33.000 bags and straps ending up in the environment each year.
As a new feed of safety measure we will add a security sticker on the buckets which will guarantee that buckets remained closed during the delivery.
In the future we will search for more possibilities to decrease even further the use of plastic in our processes.

How can you help to prevent more plastic in the future?

• Invest in refillable water bottles. Always opt for non-plastic option. Buy glass or metal bottles of fresh drinks.
• Reduce your own plastic waste and properly dispose your own trash and keep the world green.
• Bring your own reusable shopping and produce bags to markets, stores and avoid using single use plastic bags.
• Avoid the use of plastic straws.
